The forklift side shifter attachment is a device installed on the forklift forks that enables left-right movement (side shifter) of the forks and the load, allowing precise adjustment of the cargo position without moving the forklift body. Structural Components

Key parts include:

• Side shifter Mechanism: Comprises a side shifter cylinder, guide rails, and fork carriage. The cylinder pushes the fork carriage to slide left or right along the rails, enabling horizontal load movement.

• Hydraulic System: Powered by the forklift’s own hydraulic system, it drives the cylinder to extend/retract and perform the side shifter action.

• Connection Frame: Mounts the side shifter attachment to the forklift’s original fork carriage, synchronizing with lifting/tilting functions and transmitting power.

• Limiting Device (optional): Restricts the side shifter range (typically 150–300mm left/right) to prevent cargo collisions.

Working Principle

During operation:

1. Setup: The forklift lifts the load with its forks.

2. Side shifter: The operator activates the hydraulic system via the control handle. The cylinder pushes the fork carriage left or right, adjusting the load’s position (e.g., aligning with shelf gaps).

3. Reset & Transport: After adjustment, the cylinder retracts to return the carriage to its original position, allowing the forklift to proceed with lifting or moving the load.
